Get That Home Fire Roaring With Vintage Fireplace Bellows

Since the first moment man knew how to make fire, starting a fire has remained something of a challenge. If you have decided against artificial log or coal fires, and are having a real fire in your home, then starting a fire and keeping it going could be a daily challenge during the coldest months.
Traditionally, small pieces of wood, or kindle wood, have been gathered for putting on a fire before the logs. If you live in a country area with woods and forests, then gathering kindle will be an option. Also, you can now buy firelighters, including environmentally friendly lighters, or firestarters, such as bars or sticks of compressed Fatwood. these do burn more easily to help the fire to get hold, but to keep it going, you always need a draught.
Most modern rooms may not have enough draught to get a fire roaring quickly, and that is where the use of good old fashioned bellows come in.
Well designed bellows will easily give a good draught when the fire is starting, or later when it is dying and you want to bring it back to life and get the flames rising from their slumbers.
Furthermore, though, bellows have received a bit of attention too from artists, and some the bellows you can find today are decorous items. Even if you will have no practical need of bellows, for an authentic look for your hearth and fireplace decor, adding some bellows could be the final, masterstroke touch. As you can see from the pictures on this page, bellows are much more than just a puff of air.
