Fireplace Candelabra To Light the Hearth When There is No Fire
For people who live in countries with cold winters and warm summers, the fireplace and hearth can present a bare face during the summer, and warmer days of spring and autumn. Even classic old brick and stone fireplaces can seem unnecessarily dark and unwelcoming on summer evenings, compared to those glory days of hot and homely roaring fires in the winter.
What can be done then, to brighten up the fireplace when there is no need for a fire? With the fireplace as a room's focal point, it is certainly worth doing something to decorate it when there is no fire. Fresh or dried flowers in attractive vases and planters are one option, and decorative fireplace screens are another. But what of the late evenings when it is dark or getting dark? Will you not miss that bright glow of a real fire, even though you do not need its flames or its heat?
Candles can provide a delightful answer to that void left by the absent fire. I once had a lovely large brick and oak beam fireplace in a 19th century cottage in England. It was not quite a walk in fireplace, more of a "duck your head a bit and get in" fireplace. We used to have have quite an array of individual candles in there sometimes. Another option, though, is to use a candelabra.
Hearth candelabra are designed for the job of decorating your hearth, so are shaped to be particularly effective in that role. As the dark closes in on a summer evening, what could be more romantic than a room lit just by candles in your feature fireplace, where earlier a roaring fire had reigned, and will do again once summer has finished.
If you miss the burning logs or coals too much, you can even get candelabra that mimic burning embers, such as in the middle picture above. Otherwise you can get all shapes and sizes depending on taste, and the fireplace you wish to decorate. The cathedral style candelabra pictured above top can bring formal style to a tall fireplace, while the last picture shows a nicely contoured hearth candelabra which will display as snugly as you will feel lapping up the romance of the candles flames.
