Fireplace Screens With Doors For Easy Access

When choosing fireplace screens it is easy to become so engrossed in their role as decor, and thus their design and appearance, it might be easy to forget their practical use.
For some, purely decorative fire screens are enough. However, it is worth remembering fireplace screens can also have a practical purpose, to provide protection from the fire itself. If you have a real coal or log fire, then that protection can be very important.

One of the practical aspects to bear in mind also is the need to clean around the grate and hearth. Not everyone wants to move the whole fireplace screen every time the fire needs attention or the hearth area and grate need cleaning. That is where a fire screen with doors can come in handy. It is something of a bonus that the doors themselves can add an extra attractive feature to the screen from a decorative point of view.
All the fireplace screens shown here have doors, which form an important part of their design. In each case, the double doors can be opened to gain easy access to the fire and near hearth.
The top picture shows an iron gate screen, a simple design with two doors, and an arched or straight option. The second picture is of a model called Renaissance, with some attractive curvy scrollwork, while the final screen illustrated is a simply styled screen with some useful fireplace tools to hang on the outside: a broom, poker, tongs and a shovel.
