Indoor Fireplace or Fireside Log Racks

If you are fortunate enough to live in a country area, then an open log fire can be especially appealing. Log fires are part of the rustic scene, and have been for many centuries.
Those who enjoy walking may find extra pleasure, even in summer, in collecting kindling and firewood as they go, saving up a good supply for the long winter months. However, good size logs may not be so easy to come by, or carry long distances during a leisurely hike through the woods or forests.
For most people, a delivery of logs at convenient intervals is the more likely option. For the initial delivery, it is unlikely you will want the logs all piled in your house, but in a storage shed or other facility outside.
When it comes to lighting the fire, though, and keeping the flames active for as long as you need during the day and evening, you will not want to go outside to the wood shed to bring in a single log at a time. That is why many people have a small log supply by the fireplace or even on the hearth, ready to prime and maintain the log fire.
There is more than one way to store the logs close to your fire, and log baskets can be both convenient and attractive. Log racks, normally made from metal, are another option.
As with fireplace screens and fenders, log racks provide another opportunity to add to your fireplace decor in an ornate way, while serving a practical purpose at the same time.
Wrought iron is again a popular material for log rack design. The first example pictured has a canvas bag to complete its practical purpose, while the second and third pictures are very different, but equally attractive designs, the last one having a useful set of tools included, so no need to buy a separate poker, shovel, tongs and brush.
