Wrought Iron Fireplace Screens - Ornate, Classic and Stylish

Like ornately carved wood, wrought iron has many decorous uses around the home and garden. The artistic versatility of both the wood carver, and the wrought iron craftsman, can take credit for providing millions of homes around the world with quite plain or intricately ornate furniture and other decor.
Wrought iron can be used as effectively indoors as it can in the garden. Outside, patio furniture sets are often seen in wrought iron, as are gates and planters.
Inside the home, wrought iron is very popular in rustic furniture and beds, as well as on stairs and for pure decoration on bars and serving hatches. It is also well admired for use in fireplace screens.
All the screens pictured on this page are examples of wrought iron fireplace screens. As with most types of screens, there is quite a variety available in the market, in wide price ranges.
As with other wrought iron products you might find around the home, the fire screens in wrought iron gain much of their variety from the degree of ornateness. In the hands of an artist, crafted iron can result in beautifully detailed patterns, whether on furniture, an iron gate, or a fireplace screen.
The screens we have chosen to picture here are all on the ornate side, but you can easily find fireplace screens where the ironwork is very simple and plain.
The first picture is of a screen called Grapevine, a decorative screen in the "not too expensive" price range. It has a classic design, with some rustic appeal, yet may still display well in a contemporary home with modern decor. The second picture shows wrought iron at its ornate best. This work of art is about three times the price of the first screen, but its vintage bronze finish, and stylish and artistic decoration, may appeal to those who seek something distinctive, attractive and unique to put on their hearth.
The last picture shows what many would imagine as a wrought iron fire screen, the Egan. Dark, robust and curvy, this screen has plenty of ornate decoration too, and is in the same price range as the first.
Shop around and you will find plenty of screens made from wrought iron, with very different looks. Much will depend on the rest of your decor as to which you will prefer. At least, it is good to know that wrought iron screens continue to be designed, made and sold; and some lovely designs there are too.
